The Open Road RV Nomads production crew is excited to say that within the next few days we’ll be announcing the first five cast members signed on to film for the movie. You can follow updates on cast members on the main cast page located here.
Jennifer Leigh is the first official cast member on board with the project. Filming Leigh’s story is already underway as she prepares for her full time life on the road.
Read Leigh’s backstory below.
Jennifer Leigh is a key cast member, film narrator and one of the primary subjects of the film. While the film documents the epic journey of multiple full time RVers and their adventures on the road, Leigh’s role in the movie is unique in that the storyline follows her life over the course of nearly two years.
Viewers will get an inside look at how a thirty one year old with a sound professional career, a beautiful lakefront town home and a clear path to the traditional version of the “American dream” decided to unplug from what she felt was a programmed life. This in favor of the life-changing decision to live full time in an RV.
The film documents Leigh’s decision process, her 12 month journey to sell everything she owns, her strategy to plan out her new future, her sometimes painful hurdles in downsizing and financial planning, her risk taking timeline, her RV shopping experience and her full transition to life roaming the open roads of America.
Leigh’s story provides a profoundly fascinating exploration of a cultural shift in our society. A shift through which many Americans are finding unique ways to take more control over their lives. This over allowing traditional work environments to dictate how we live.
ABOUT JENNIFER LEIGH
Jennifer Leigh is a California native who in 2014 moved to the upper midwest to follow employment opportunities in the news media industry. She works as a news editor and has covered a wide range of stories that have taken her to many corners of the globe.
She was tear gassed and hit with sound cannons/percussion grenades while covering the riots of Fergusson, Missouri. She spent significant time on location documenting foreign war on the borders of Israel and Syria, conflict in the Gaza Strip and the general destabilization of the Middle East.
While writing and reporting will always remain a passion of hers, Leigh is looking to break free from the constraints of living to work. Through a new life as a full time RVer, Leigh seeks to put living first, work second. It’s a difficult transition with a lot of challenges, but one she has fully embraced and now sees as a key part of her daily life.
Leigh lives by herself with a beautiful 80 pound, personal protection trained Belgian Malinois named Ruger. He’s an extremely high-energy hand full, but he’s her best friend and keeps her on her toes.
